Echuca Post Office targeted in overnight attack

A man has smashed his way into Echuca post office, stealing mobile phones from a glass cabinet.

The man was caught on CCTV footage at the Pakenham St office about 1.20am.

He was seen loitering in front of the building for several minutes before taking large stones from his backpack.

He has then smashed the front door, kicking his way through the door and into the office, where he has taken an unknown quantity of mobile phones from a glass display cabinet.

After grabbing the phones, the man left headed west past the Westpac Bank.

Shane Kervin of Campaspe Criminal Investigation Unit said police were reviewing the footage and were continuing to investigate.

He said the man in question was 175cm tall, slight build, aged between 16 and 20 and wearing dark clothing.

He has urged anyone who might have been in the CBD at the time call Echuca police on 5483 1500.

Police were also called to Flight Centre in Pakenham St this morning for a possible break in.

Fingerprints were taken from the front door, however it is unsure whether an attempt was made to break in, nothing was taken.
