The Festival have stated they will no longer be selling single-use plastic bottles.
Festival-goers are encouraged to bring their own re-usable bottle or hire a bottle for a small fee to use throughout the weekend.
The Riverboats Festival have partnered with Green Music Australia to provide a 'Refill-not-Landfill' Bottle Library.
Attendees are then asked to return their bottles at the end of the event to be washed and reused at other festivals.
Festival Director David Fraser said changes have been made at previous Riverboat Music festivals to reduce waste, and removing plastic bottles was simply the next step.
"We feel a real sense of responsibility," he said.
"Anyone running large public events these days I believe has an obligation to play their part in trying to minimise our impact on this precious planet of ours,
"It seems like a bit of a no-brainer."
Updates in the lead-up to the Festival can be found on our website, or the Riverboats Music Festival Facebook Page.
