Deniliquin police nab $500,000 cocaine haul
Deniliquin police have made another significant drug bust on the region's roads.
Yesterday afternoon, police stopped a vehicle on the Sturt Highway near Hay.
Police searched the vehicle and found 1.1 kilograms of cocaine, with a street value or more than $500,000.
Deniliquin Local Area Command Crime Manager Trent Swinton said police investigatons were still continuing with no charges laid as yet.
It is not the first time Deniliquin LAC officers have unearthed large scale drug hauls on the region's highways.
Earlier this year, police uncovered a 10 kilogram ice haul, also near Hay, after police pulled over a camper van, driven by a 46-year-old man, with a 42-year-old man, a five-year-old boy inside the van.
After investigations, Organised Crime Squad members yesterday arrested and charged a 42-year-old man with large scale commercial drug supply.
Shortly after the arrest, detectives executed a search warrant at a home on Yarraga Place, Yowie Bay, where they seized financial documents, electronic storage devices, encrypted mobile devices, mobile phones and $40,000 cash.
Detectives also executed a search warrant at a financial institution and seized a safety deposit box, which is believed to contain $100,000 cash.
