The Cup will be heading to the Southern Riverina region

The 17th Annual Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour will be visiting the Deniliquin, Wakool and Koondrook region.

The $200,000 18-carat cup will attend a number of public events, alongside Tour Ambassador and 2001 Melbourne Cup-winning trainer Sheila Laxon.

Friday 12 July – Deniliquin

10:20AM – 12:00PM: Orana Residential Aged Care
59 Napier Street, Deniliquin
Sheila and the Cup will visit residents at Orana Residential Aged Care for morning tea. Alec Allitt of Deniliquin Bush Poets Society will read horse themed poems with residents to celebrate the Cup’s arrival.

12.30PM – 14.30PM: Riding for the Disabled Association
Deniliquin Pony Club, Pony Club Road, Deniliquin
The People’s Cup will visit volunteers and students at the local Riding for the Disabled Association. Local riders will perform a demonstration and Sheila will engage in a Q&A.

14.15PM - 14.30PM: Deni Ute Muster Gates Photo Opportunity
The Cup will stop for a photo opportunity in front of the iconic Deni Ute Muster gates. The gates represent the legendary Deni Ute Muster event which is held each year on the NSW Labour Day long weekend.

14.50PM – 16.00PM: Public viewing

Central Murray Regional Public Library, 55 Napier Street Deniliquin NSW 2710

The community will be invited to take photos with the iconic trophy and hear from Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour Ambassador Sheila Laxon at a public showing at Central Murray Regional Public Library.

17.20PM – 19.30PM: Historical Connections Reception Society

Deniliquin & District Historical Society, 3 Macauley Street

The Cup will attend an evening function at Deniliquin & District Historical Society. During the event, Deniliquin will draw their barrier for the Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour National Sweep.

Saturday 13th July - Wakool

11:00AM – 15:00PM: Wakool Picnic in the Park
La Perouse St Wakool
The People’s Cup will attend Wakool’s picnic in the park event, a family friendly and all-inclusive opportunity for locals to view and have a photos with the Lexus Melbourne Cup.

18:00PM: A Night at the Races’ Black Tie Ball
Wakool Memorial Hall – La Perouse St
On Saturday night the Cup and Sheila will attend a night at the races themed dinner at Wakool Memorial Hall, where Wakool will draw their barrier for the Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour National Sweep.

Sunday 14th July – Koondrook

9.30AM – 10:50AM: Murray Haven Aged Care
98 Punt Road Barham
Sheila and the Cup will visit residents at Murray Haven Aged Care for morning tea. Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour Ambassador Sheila Laxon will share her Cup story with residents.

11:00AM: Riverside Park

2-15 Murray Street, Barham
Councillor Allan Mathers and school captains from Barham Primary School, Koondrook Primary School and Barham High School will welcome the Cup and escort it along the boardwalk. At 11:45am the Cup will board a boat on the Murray River and journey to Koondrook wharf.

12:00PM: Apex Park Koondrook

Main Road Koondrook

The Cup will arrive at Apex Park for a special public event featuring food stalls, family entertainment and photo opportunities. At 2:50pm the Roy Higgins Red Gum statue will be unveiled. Roy’s sisters, Alma and Elsie will unveil the statue.

19:30PM - 21:00PM: cluBarham
6-8 Neimur Street Barham
The coveted trophy will attend an event at cluBarham featuring local racing identities Jye and Logan McNeil, Jess Payne and local aspiring race caller Patrick Doyle, who will perform a phantom race call. Koondrook will draw their barrier for the Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour National Sweep.
