Plane crash lands near Deniliquin airport
4.30pm: Emergency services are on scene after a plane has crashed near Deniliquin airport this afternoon.
Fire and ambulance crews raced to the scene, near the Cobb Highway, about 4pm.
Witnesses have said those involved were believed to have escaped serious injury.
Emergency service crews remain on the scene and details of what caused the accident ar not yet known.
UPDATE 5.47pm: Deniliquin police have confirmed that a 24-year-old Chinese man was involved in the accident.
Inspector Trent Swinton said the man was getting ready to approach the runway when the accident happened.
He said bad weather at the time played a role in the accident.
The plane, which landed about 800 metres short of the runway was destroyed in the accident, although the man was able to get himself out of the wreckage.
He was taken to Deniliquin Hospital for observation.
