Moama's Todd Murphy earns Cricket Australia call up
Moama cricketer Todd Murphy has taken another massive step forward in his young career.
After a big week playing for Victoria Country in the National Under 17 championships, Murphy has been chosen to play in a Cricket Australia squad to play in the national under 19 championships in December.
Victoria Country coach Graeme Rummans said Murphy had a massive week, not only with his eye-catching batting or handy off-spin bowling, but also his leadership and cricket knowledge.
Rummans said while Murphy's performance validated his place among Australia's best junior players, he will need to continue to work hard to continue developing.
The under 19 championships is a selection trial for the Australian under 19 side, which is a massive step toward playing test or one-day cricket in the future.
Murphy played for Moama in the Goulburn Murray Cricket competition last season. This year he will play for Sandhurst in the Bendigo competition, as well as St Kilda in Melbourne's premier competition.
He will continue to train as part of Cricket Australia's rookie pathway program, an elite program for talented junior cricketers looking for state and national selection in the future.
