Accident on the Murray Valley Highway
Police and emergency services are rushing to Torrumbarry after an accident on the Murray Valley Highway.
The accident happened shortly after 9am with Police expected to block the highway for some time.
A 38-year-old Kealba man has been flown to Melbourne’s Alfred Hospital in a serious but stable condition after an accident at Torrumbarry this morning.
Police allege the man, driving a blue Holden ute was travelling west on the Murray Valley Highway, when he crossed onto the wrong side of the road and into the path of a Mitsubishi Pajero containing a man 62, and a woman 53, both from Lismore.
The accident happened about 9.10am, with the man being flown from the scene and the couple taken to Echuca Hospital with minor to moderate injuries.
Police now try to piece together what caused the man to lose control of his vehicle.
Leading Senior Constable Frank Scopeletti of Campaspe Highway Patrol has asked anyone who might have witnessed the crash or seen the vehicles on the highway this morning to call Echuca police on 5483 1500.
